I love my city, Athens.It’s a city of contrasts, where ancient and modern co-exist. A city where beautiful monuments, anonymous concrete buildings and contemporary architecture sit side by side, and Greece's rich past is on show on every corner. As filmmaker and photographer Alexandros Maragos says, you just need the right pair of eyes to appreciate it.
Our national history, local history, family history and personal history all define our identity. Lighting an AKI oil lamp connects me with my roots, my surroundings and my emotions, and brings ancient Athens – a city illuminated by this very form of vessel – back to life.
